Singapore hands over 20th ACCSM Chairmanship to Thailand
SINGAPORE, 25th October 2018 (NNT) –At the Heads of Civil Service Meeting of the 19th ASEAN Cooperation on Civil Service Matters (ACCSM), Ms.Yong Ying-I, the chairperson of the 19th ACCSM, handed over the chairmanship to Mrs. Methini Thepmani, Secretary General of Thailand’s Office of the civil service commission, to officially launch the 20th ACCSM Chairmanship on 1st January 2019.
The two year term of the 19th ACCSM of Singapore, during 2017-2018, is under the theme of “Building Citizen-Centric Civil Service in ASEAN”. The main missions are expanding the scope of cooperation between ACCSM and ASEAN dialogue partners beyond ASEAN plus three countries as well as specialized organizations.
In 2019 – 2020, Thailand will be the host of the 20th ACCSM, which is an excellent opportunity to showcase progress and the direction of the development of Thai civil service personnel to other ACCSM members. The theme of Thailand’s hosting responsibility will be “Accelerating Agile ASEAN Civil Service” which is in line with the overall theme of the ASEAN Summit.
Mrs. Methini said that, over the coming year, a number of deliverables will forge agility in the civil service. Thailand will continue to advance the current achievements while also proposing deliverables under its leadership, including devising an ACCSM Workplan 2021 – 2025 in order to respond to the emerging challenges shared by civil services in the region.
She added that, in March 2019, the Senior Officials Meeting will take place in Chiang Rai and other related meetings during August in Bangkok.
